Meet Chad Airhart
Dr. Chad Airhart teaches ongoing art lessons at The Makers for ages 10-18. Chad is excited to share his love for studio art and knowledge of art history and professional studio practices with his students.
Chad Wesley Airhart grew up in Mesquite, Texas. He received his B.A. in Painting from the University of Dallas before moving onto graduate studies at The University of Texas - Dallas, where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Humanities - Aesthetic Studies. Chad’s career has consisted of over 15 years of college level teaching as well as scholarly work and painting. Art history, art appreciation, and humanities are among the university courses he has taught. His publications have explored the relationship between art theory and art practice, aesthetic philosophy, art criticism, and gestural abstraction.
Over the years, Chad has created multiple bodies of work consisting of worlds of ants, human figures, flora, and trees as his latest series. Although his subject matter has varied, his creative process has endured, blending figuration and gestural abstraction with heavy paint application.
Chad lives with his family in Oneonta, Alabama, where he enjoys making art and teaching classes in his studio space and gallery, The Makers Downtown. His art is represented in other galleries as well as numerous collections.
